APPROACH

Working with colour is a sensitive, emotive and powerful process; harnessing its ability to capture imagination, represent a message, product or brand requires foresight, imagination, knowledge and a desire to explore & discover. This is integral to the way I work and how I approach projects.

CONCEPT & INSIGHT

I have a critical understanding of colour and its role in design, and the hands-on industry experience required to visualise, capture and communicate with it. Colour is never in isolation, it is always part of something, whether at the forefront of an idea, or serving as a subconsciously powerful backdrop. This bigger picture is at the core of my approach, with cultural shifts, consumer mindset and new innovations being a central part of my work.

“What drives an aesthetic fascinates me; analysing historical, social, technical shifts alongside taste and behaviours and how they will impact and resonate is an integral part of my creative process, and a genuine interest of mine.”

STRATEGY & STORYTELLING

Part of my process is distilling a concept and cutting through complexity. Retaining the aesthetic purity and meaning of an idea whilst successfully and strategically implementing it is a key part of my specialism. I see too often how beautifully crafted concepts can get lost in the process, and how working on both sides of the process can add huge value. I love getting fully immersed in a brand / product / material, concept, and understanding the full picture. My remit and interests are reach far beyond colour which enhances the scope and quality of my work.

Colour does not have to be bold to have impact. I work with clients to create colour bibles and strategies that enhance their everyday foundation colour & neutrals, which carry huge weight with subtlety. These projects can be in-depth, detailed and challenging, with a long term view and long term impact, designed to get to the essence of a brand and identifying the bedrock of their colour and wider identity. Creating concepts that offer true longevity is a key element of my work.

“I find it hugely rewarding to work collaboratively, with both creatives and commercial colleagues to create something future-facing and relevant.  I find the human interaction found in in-depth client work thrilling, and I genuinely enjoy the specific challenges this kind of work and interaction brings.”
